The Group of Russian state universities RACUS congratulates Russian high school students on their outstanding success at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) 2026.
Russia holds a leading position globally in information technology and artificial intelligence. It has once again demonstrated this by becoming the overall champion of one of the world’s largest international competitions in artificial intelligence for the third year in a row. In 2026, the Russian team won seven gold medals and one bronze medal, taking first place.
The IOAI final was held in Kazakhstan from 2 to 7 August 2026, bringing together 465 talented high school students from 105 countries. Russian student Artyom Gorokhov became the overall winner of the Olympiad.
Participants tackled highly complex challenges in key areas of modern digital science, including machine learning, computer vision, large language models, audio processing, semantic search and robot control in virtual environments.
This result is a remarkable testament to the high standard of Russia’s mathematical, engineering, and IT education, the country’s strong academic traditions, and the ability of young Russian talents to compete confidently with the best students of their generation on the global stage.
We are proud of the Russian team’s victory and extend our heartfelt congratulations to the students, their teachers, mentors and parents!
Today, these young talents are winning international Olympiads. Tomorrow, they will create new technologies and advance artificial intelligence, science, industry and medicine.
Russia continues to educate and train those who will shape the future.
Study in Russia! Learn from the best!
