FIRST SIERRA LEONE STUDENTS ARRIVED IN RUSSIA: SNOWY WINTER, TAMBOV HOSPITALITY AND FIRST STEPS INTO A NEW LIFE
On July 15th, 2021, the Group of Russian State Universities RACUS announced the opening of the representative office in the Republic of Sierra Leone – it became the seventy fifth country where the Organization has its offices. And now we are welcoming the first long-awaited students: these ambitious, brave and happy young people came to Russia to get a higher education in Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin.Tambov State University has a great experience in training, social and cultural adaptation of international students and is in TOP-10 Russian universities in the number of foreign students (about 3500 students from 75 countries). The reasons why it is so popular among international students are quality of education, possibility to study in Russian, English and French, affordable prices and the city high living standards.
RACUS managers met the students in the Moscow airport and organized a comfortable transfer to the student hostel. Later they gave them an interesting city tour, introduced them to the future classmates and showed some life-hacks useful for those who live in Tambov. RACUS organization and University staff consider their responsibility to help international students to adapt, give them support and assistance not only in their first days in Russia but during all the study period, until they get a higher education diploma and return to their home countries as successful graduates.  A beautiful Russian winter was waiting for Sierra Leone students: Tambov, decorated with crusty snow and New-Year lights, won over students’ hearts from the first sight.
