Applicants from Botswana show great interest in Russian higher education: the results of the Study in Russia – 2025 exhibition in Gaborone

On February 25, 2025, the capital of Botswana, Gaborone, hosted the specialized education exhibition Study in Russia – 2025, organized by the RACUS Group of Russian State Universities as part of a large-scale tour around the Southern African countries. Held at the five-star Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino Hotel, the event became a starting point for future students interested in obtaining high-quality and affordable higher education.

The exhibition received an enthusiastic response from young people: more than 200 applicants and their parents attended it. Medical programs, Engineering (Mining, Geology, Mineral Exploration, etc.) and IT specialties (Cybersecurity, Programming) were in the greatest demand. Representatives of the department of Southern Africa of the RACUS organization provided candidates with detailed information about the conditions of admission, tuition and accommodation costs, as well as job prospects. The TOP universities of the RACUS group, such as Tambov State University, South Russian State Polytechnic University, Saratov State Medical University, Astrakhan State Medical University, aroused the greatest interest among visitors.

The exhibition was particularly valuable for those who finished school in November 2024: in the upcoming weeks they will receive their General Certificate of Secondary Education and will be able to begin the admission process to Russian state universities belonging to the RACUS group.

During the RACUS delegation’s visit to Botswana, the representatives also had a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Andrey Kemarskiy. The discussion focused on prospects for educational cooperation between Russia and Botswana, in-demand fields in Botswana’s job market, and further steps to promote Russian higher education in Botswana.

Russian higher education has already established a strong presence in Botswana: graduates confidently build careers in their chosen fields, especially in Medicine, where staff shortages remain a pressing issue. The successful career of the former students of the RACUS group universities confirms the high level of quality of Russian higher education.
