Nizhny Novgorod State University for Architecture and Civil Engineering is a university with 100 years of history that trains not only architects, civil engineers and designers, but also specialists in the field of land management and cadastre, geodesy, cartography, remote sensing and much more. The university also graduates specialists in the IT field (Applied Informatics, Software Engineering and other programs).
More and more opportunities are created every year. For example, there are programs of landscape architecture, architectural environment design, spatial data infrastructure, and much more. 3 new training programs in modern and promising fields have been introduced and are actively implemented:
- artificial intelligence in construction;
- artificial intelligence in business analytics;
- artificial intelligence in the systems and networks of data transmission.
Within the Civil Engineering program there is an opportunity to gain knowledge in the field of industrial and civil engineering, construction of engineering, hydraulic and environmental facilities, highways, airfields and much more. Each study program has its own training modules. In the field of design, a student can choose, for example, industrial or graphic design program, or the art of creating an environment and interior.
Students have plenty of opportunities:
- internships in various companies (for example, in GAZ Group engineering conglomerate);
- more than 70 scientific research laboratories;
- cooperation agreements with leading scientific research institutes;
- paid cross-functional internships combined with studying in the university;
- institutes of business technology and advanced training;

During their studies, the students undertake practical training in the leading architectural and engineering companies of Nizhny Novgorod. It is practical orientation which is the main strength of the university.
Nizhny Novgorod State University for Architecture and Civil Engineering prioritizes innovative activities in the fields of education, science, and technology. The university closely cooperates with higher education institutions in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, China, France and other countries. Thanks to the existing multi-level agreements with foreign partner universities, undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University have the opportunity to join academic mobility programs and undertake internships abroad. The university forms part of the international grant programs ERASMUS MUNDUS and TEMPUS, under which the students traveling abroad have an opportunity to receive scholarships that fully or partially cover the costs of the trip.
Participation in international exhibitions and competitions allows students to present their architectural projects, engineering and technical developments, provides them with an opportunity to develop professional activity and gain recognition even during their studies.
The university provides its graduates with a diploma of the Russian state standard, which certifies the receipt of higher education and indicates the degree/qualification and specialty.
Student life
The university is located in the ancient Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod (founded in 1221). Currently, more than 2 million people live in the city. Nizhny Novgorod is a large and beautiful, green city with a well-developed infrastructure and a rich cultural life.
The campus is located in the historical center of Nizhny Novgorod. Students live in 4 modern hostels. Comfortable living conditions have been created in all the hostels with everything necessary available, including a Wi-Fi network. A friendly atmosphere has been created at the University and in its hostels, which makes it pleasant to study and live there.
Nizhny Novgorod State University for Architecture and Civil Engineering has various sports grounds including sports halls and gyms, a ski base, a swimming pool, an open gymnasium and its own stadium.
