Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping is located in the maritime capital of Russia – Saint Petersburg. It was in this city that the Russian Navy was founded, famous traditions were established and the history of Russian navigation started.
Saint Petersburg is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The historic center of the city is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Saint Petersburg was founded in 1703 by the Russian Emperor Peter the Great. For 200 years the city was the capital of Russia. The best of culture and the most progressive of science worlds was here, in Saint Petersburg. Today it remains the cultural, educational and maritime capital of Russia. Summer in St. Petersburg is the time of White Nights. This is a natural phenomenon of the northern parts of the globe. The sun remains visible practically all day long. Nights are so bright, that you can easily read a book sitting on a bench by a beautiful embankment. During this period the city never sleeps: excursions, romantic dates, walks and conversations with friends, amazing views of the opened draw-bridges and the great Neva River.
