The Head of the Russian Centre for Culture and Science Yuri Zaitsev visited the RACUS representative office in Tunis
On October 27th, 2022, the RACUS representative office in Tunis welcomed very important guests. Yuri Zaitsev, Head of the Russian Centre for Culture and Science (“Russian House”) and vice head Arseniy Matiushenko visited the office at the invitation of the general director of RACUS. Tatiana Osadchaya, Adviser to the Rector for International Affairs of Tambov State University, and Marina Alimaskina-Bouattour, Head of the Representative office of RACUS - group of Russian state universities in Tunisia, also assisted at the meeting.
Some important issues were discussed during the visit. Yuri Zaitsev, who has just taken the office, was introduced to the activities of RACUS organization, got to know its mission and values, variety of study programs (more than 1,200), possibilities of training in Russian universities without a language barrier in Russian, English, French, global recognition of Russian diplomas and the opportunities the graduates from Tunisia get upon receiving higher education in Russia. Also, the history of the representative office in Tunisia was mentioned which actually started many years ago, in 1995. The participants discussed the plans and strategies for popularization and promotion of Russian higher education among the youth of Tunisia, shared their views and agreed to provide a mutual support.Sometimes we want negotiations to go like this: not at the table but in a home-like atmosphere in a cozy office filled with fresh flowers and the smells of national sweets and bitter coffee, discussing ideas which may turn into brilliant projects. All this affected positively the results of negotiations: the participants decided to create the most comfortable conditions for increasing the number of students from Tunisia willing to get enrolled to Russian state universities, and also planned to organize an educational fair “Study in Russia 2023” in Tunisia in June-July of the next year and invite representatives of Russian universities, the country’s authorities and leading mass-media. It is planned to launch an advertising campaign with the aim to attract potential students who are interested in studying in Russia and their parents.In the end of the meeting, Avbakar Nutsalov, General Director of RACUS, presented the guests with souvenirs and expressed his hope for a long-term cooperation. RACUS organization wishes Yuri Zaitsev a great success in the new office and will look forward to new meetings. Many exciting things are ahead of us!
