Russian Higher Education in Algerian Youth Trends: International Educational Exhibitions in Setif and Oran (Algeria)

The group of Russian state universities RACUS opened the summer season of education exhibitions in Algeria. On June 20, 2023, Russian higher education was presented at the international exhibition at the Park Mall Hotel and Conference Center in Setif. On June 22, 2023, the Organization participated in an exhibition at the Ecole Superieure de l'Hotellerie et Restauration in Oran.

In 2023, our countries celebrated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Russian-Algerian diplomatic relations. The demand for Russian higher education among Algerian youth continues to grow every year, as does the number of Algerian youth in the ranks of students at Russian state universities. The growth of interest towards Russian higher education has also been influenced by promising joint Algerian-Russian projects that require highly qualified specialists. As Vladimir Putin said in June 2023 at the talks with his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune, «Russia traditionally does a lot in terms of training Algerian highly qualified national personnel. Given the high demand among Algerian citizens for studying in Russia, we decided to increase the quota of state funded places for Algeria by one third».

Education exhibitions in Algeria are the most important link in the popularization of Russian higher education in the largest country of the African continent. RACUS organization participates and independently conducts such events on a permanent basis, and the key task of these events is to inform the youth of Algeria about the opportunities which the diploma of Russian higher education gives to its holder. Let's list the main reasons why ambitious youth of Algeria chooses Russia as a country of training: choice of 1,200 specialties, worldwide recognition of the diploma, opportunity to make a career in any country in the world (including Algeria and Russia), training in French, Russian and English, affordable cost of training and high demand among employers in leading companies in the world. These attractive advantages and 100% guarantee of admission put Russia in the top of the countries where Algerian youth seeks to go to get higher education.

Along with Russia, such countries as France, Spain, Germany, England, and the USA were represented at the exhibition. RACUS organization (as almost always) was the only participant at the international educational exhibition which represented Russian higher education.

The well-known Russian medical universities traditionally were the most popular at the exhibitions in Setif and Oran: Saint Petersburg State Chemical Pharmaceutical University, Tambov State University named after G. R. Derzhavin, Saratov State Medical University, Astrakhan State Medical University, Perm State Pharmaceutical Academy, and Saint Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine. The following universities have become favorite options for learning Engineering and Economics related programs in French, English and Russian: Platov South-Russian State Polytechnic University, Yaroslav the Wise Novgorod State University, Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, and Moscow Aviation Institute.
