On March 25-28, 2025, the capital of Botswana, Gaborone, hosted the international education exhibition Career Fair — 2025, the largest education event in the country, organized by the Botswana Human Resource Development Council in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education of Botswana. The event took place on the territory of the Fairground Holdings multifunctional exhibition complex and gathered more than 12,000 visitors – school and university students, representatives of educational institutions, partners, and organizations involved in the development of education in Botswana.

Russian higher education was presented at the exhibition by the Study in Russia-2025 stand organized by RACUS with the assistance of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Botswana. The bright stand of the RACUS organization attracted numerous visitors, and school students received colorful booklets and souvenirs with the Study in Russia – WWW.EDURUSSIA.RU logo.

Among the presented programs, the greatest interest was aroused by those that directly align with the needs of Botswana’s economy: mining, oil and gas engineering, and technologies for the exploration and transportation of mineral resources. Programs in the fields of medicine, engineering, IT and cybersecurity, as well as agricultural sciences were also in high demand as the most promising for future employment in the country. Such interest in the presented programs is generated by the real situation in the Botswana labor market: high demand for doctors (less than 4 per 10,000 citizens according to the World Bank), large-scale investments in the construction of roads, electricity networks and water supply system (more than $1.2 billion in 2023 according to the African Development Bank) and the leading role of the extractive industry in the economy (Botswana is one of the top 5 global diamond exporters according to De Beers and the USGS) cause a steady need for new specialists in these areas.

Visitors of the Study in Russia stand received individual consultations on the admission process, learned about the partially subsidized cost of education and the opportunity to study in English and Russian, and became acquainted with the RACUS group member universities, which are popular among the Botswana audience and well-known in the country's education market: Tambov State University, Mari State University, Saratov State Medical University, South Russian State Polytechnic University and others. Even before leaving the stand, many applicants filled in the applications for admission to Russian universities belonging to the RACUS group.

The theme of this year's exhibition, "Leveraging on TVET to transform higher education in Botswana: diversifying the economy through youth skills development," fully corresponded to the goals of the RACUS organization to train in-demand personnel to ensure sustainable development of Botswana.
