RACUS organization has concluded the first stage of promotion of Russian higher education in the following countries of Southern Africa: Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Swaziland, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya and Tanzania. The first stage of promotion began on November 15, 2022 and ended on March 1, 2023. As part of the advertising campaign, there were dozens of education exhibitions, seminars and hundreds of consultations for the applicants and their parents. Earlier on, RACUS direction based in St. Petersburg held zoom-conferences with the chief representatives of RACUS in the aforementioned countries. During conferences, the parties discussed ways to engage young African people in studying in Russian universities. Also, the parties agreed that the date of the launch of the second stage of promotion of Russian higher education in the countries of Southern Africa will be on July 1, 2023.

It is worth noting that during the first stage of promotion the following universities were the most in demand: Tambov State University, Astrakhan State Medical University, Saratov State Medical University, Platov South-Russian State Polytechnic University and Novgorod State University. Low GPA among African students compel the Ministry of higher education of African countries to invest huge budgetary funds to improve education systems and material and technical base of universities. Russia as a country of choice for getting higher education, ranks among leaders for graduates of African schools.

The Russia – Africa Summit is the largest event in Russian-African relations. The purpose of the event is to promote the strengthening of comprehensive and equal cooperation between Russia and African countries in various fields. The dynamic activity of the RACUS organization in promoting Russian higher education in South African countries is aimed at increasing the brand awareness of "Study in Russia", which makes a huge contribution to the development and improvement of Russian-African relations in general.

In 2022, the number of foreign students in Russia increased by 8.4%. The total number of foreign students receiving higher education in Russia has reached 400,000 people. According to the UN statistics, Russia ranks first in the world in terms of literacy and the number of people with higher education among the adult population.
