On April 3-6, 2025, a delegation of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in the Russian Federation, headed by First Secretary Mr. Abdelilah Ghazioui, paid a working visit to Astrakhan State Medical University.

Acting Rector Sergey Poroysky and heads of university departments, as well as Moroccan students currently pursuing their studies at the University, participated in the negotiations. Discussions focused on enhancing interaction in the field of higher education, as well as mechanisms of cooperation between the Astrakhan State Medical University’s international office and the Consular Section of the Embassy of Morocco.

The launch of the mobile consular service program became an important part of the visit. It allows Moroccan citizens studying at the University to renew their passports and ID cards, as well as obtain documents for temporary residence permits, without having to travel to Moscow from Astrakhan. This makes the administrative procedures very convenient for students.

Astrakhan State Medical University, which traces its history back to 1918, has consistently been among the prioritized institutions of higher medical education chosen by Moroccan applicants for their studies. The University offers such study programs as General Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, as well as more than 50 medical residency programs.

Astrakhan State Medical University has over 2,500 international students, more than 800 of whom are Moroccan citizens studying through the RACUS organization.

Its continued popularity among Moroccan youth is explained by the combination of high-quality academic training, a comfortable learning environment, a warm climate and an effective work with students carried out by the staff of the RACUS organization.

The visit by representatives of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco to Astrakhan State Medical University marks a significant step in strengthening the educational partnership in higher education between Russia and Morocco. It reaffirmed the high level of trust in Russian higher medical education.
